Ron is the most experienced of the K9 trainers starting agility in 1988 with his first dog Cindy (Princess Tesstarossa). Over the years he has had a string of fantastic agility dogs with his best successes coming from Penny who ran in advanced (Grade 7) and Max Senior (grade 6). His two current dogs Oliver & Kelly currently run in grade 6.
Ron Started training other handlers in the early nineties and has had a hand in the training of many of the handlers around on the agility circuit today. Ron is a strong believer in  positive reinforcement methods of training and believes that this is the best way to get the best out of our dogs. He treats dogs and handlers as individuals knowing that all dogs and handlers are different and what works for one will not necessarily work for others. He is also an experienced clicker trainer and has trained dogs for obedience and Heelwork to music although agility is his real passion and he only trains dogs in this discipline at the moment.

Ron's Top Tip.
When training your dogs at home, set up your exercise then put numbers on the jumps showing the order and stick to it. If you you don't do this you may just follow your dog if he turns left instead of right (or visa versa) it is so easy to fall into the trap of dog taking handler round the course and if you let them get away with it for sure  it will happen at shows.  The numbers don't have to be elaborate just a few bits of card with numbers written on in felt tip. Remember when you change the exercise to also change the numbers it only takes a few seconds.

Kathy (pictured right with her dogs Ellie, Merlin, Jasper & Denzel) has owned and trained dogs for over 20 years and has been competing in agility for 12 years. She has been a trainer for 10 years and is currently working  Merlin (Merlin's Magical Mystery Tour) at Grade 5 level. Kathy is also an excellent clicker trainer having trained some fabulous Heelwork to music moves with Ellie. Kathy like Ron believes fully in positive reinforcement methods of training and claims it make for a stress free training experience for both dog and handler. Kathy is great at starting new dogs and handlers off on the road to training for agility.

Kathy's Top Tip.
When you get a new puppy for agility be sure to play with him from day one, spend ten minutes a day away from your other dogs. A small ball on a rope to play retrieve and tuggy games with is ideal, the pup will very quickly see you as a fun person to be with and the bond between handler and dog will become much stronger and motivation to play and work will be very high.  Oh! and don't ever buy litter mates as they tent to be already bonded to each other.

Steven pictured left with one of his dogs Amber (Novamber Ten) started training with K9 as a newbie about 4 years ago  he has two dogs Amber and Jazz both of which he runs at grade 6 level.
Amber was Stevens first agility dog and was soon trained and entering shows  they both quickly worked their way through the ranks from grade 1 up to grade 6.
Stevens youngest Dog Jazz  worked his way very quickly through into grade 6.
Steve is now working with us to become a trainer and  is always there willing to help the new handlers when they attend their first shows he is a great ambassador for K9 Agility.
